Into the closet, a portal emerged.

As words like social-distancing, quarantine, and isolation populate our auto-correct, doors close, masks cover faces, hand-sanitizer, and toilet paper move to the black market. Just like our clients, embodied therapists everywhere experienced the rug yanked out from under us and the dark cloud of collective grief and confusion rolled in.

The new dawn of tele-health, Zoom trainings, virtual retreats, and e-scheduling is upon us. More than ever, the boundaries between work and home, therapist and client, even the delineation of individual days and weeks, and months has blurred. Months of this temporary strangeness turned into over a year of “new normals”. For many of us, life is filled with talking heads in tiny boxes on our screens, lag, static, and frustration.

As we all feel this out together, I am reminded of Randy McCommons’ words:

Notice, feel, animate, express is the heart of the work.
Return here when lost.
The body is the heart of the work.
Return here when lost.

-Randy McCommons

It took a few months to soak in, we’re in it for the long haul.

Creativity will help us prevail!

A portal is something that swirls and shifts, it bends time, dimension, and experience. Each time we step in it and pass through it we are changed.
